Analyses of electromagnetic compatibility for buried pipelines
When laying new cables and pipes, it is important to analyse whether this new infrastructure has any thermal or electrical effect on the current, already existing infrastructure.
In The Netherlands the applicable standard is the NEN3654. In this standard, four steps are given to exclude any electrical influence on adjacent cables or pipes.
De first of these steps is a simple but effective ‘Quick Scan’.
Using this quick scan, we are able to show a quick first analysis of a possible electrical influence. When the quick scan shows that further investigation is necessary, we use the more in-depth steps to map the risks. For inadmissible situations, we suggest mitigating measures to reduce the degree of influence to an acceptable value.
